The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
