Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
