The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
