And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 He utters not a word, but there is a vigilant watcher at hand. 18 Lo, the agony of death has indeed come with the Truth. That is what you had sought to avoid. 19 And the Horn shall be blown; that is the Day of Threat! 20 Every soul will be accompanied (by an angel) behind him and another as a witness. 21 (And the driver will say:) "You were oblivious of this, so we have removed the veil, and how keen is your sight today!" 22 And (unto the evil-doer) his comrade saith: This is that which I have ready (as testimony). 23 [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever, 24 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions; 25 and has set up another deity with Allah. Hurl him into the grievous torment.” 26 ۞ and his associate [Satan] will say, "Lord, I did not make him transgress, he had already gone far astray himself." 27 He saith: Contend not in My presence, when I had already proffered unto you the warning. 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
