The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 The closing night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
