The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
