The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
