The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
