The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
