The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
