Behold! Abraham said to his father and his people: "I do indeed clear myself of what ye worship: 26 None [do I worship] but Him who has brought me into being: and behold, it is He who will guide me!" 27 And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it]. 28 Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear. 29 And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 Is it they who distribute the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who have distributed their livelihood among them in the life of this world, and have raised some above others in rank that some of them may harness others to their service. Your Lord's Mercy is better than all the treasures that they hoard. 32 And were it not that all people had been a single nation, We would certainly have assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent Allah (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses and the stairs by which they ascend. 33 And doors of silver for their houses and couches of silver upon which they would recline. 34 And ornaments of gold. But all this would have been nothing but the vanity of this world. The Hereafter with your Lord is for those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path. 35
