And recall what time thy Lord called unto Musa, saying: go thou unto the wrong-doing people. 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He said, “My Lord, I fear that they will deny me.” 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 Said Moosa, “Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you believe.” 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison," 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
