Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
