Al-Najm 3 of 3
Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
