The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
