The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness this land 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
