And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
