The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
