The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
