By the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except those of the right hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the sinners. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
