Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And the night when it departs. 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Have you not seen what your Lord did to the 'Ad 6 The people of many-columned lram. 7 The like of which was not built in the cities, 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 Who terrorised the region, 11 And made therein much mischief. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him and then is gracious and provides good things for him, he says: "My Lord has been gracious to me." 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 No! But you show no good to the orphan, 17 and you do not urge one another to feed the needy, 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 Nor shall any bind with His bond. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. 28 enter, then, together with My [other true] servants 29 enter My Paradise! 30
