The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
