The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
