The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 that hide, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
