The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
