The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
