The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
