The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
