The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
