Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
