The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
