The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
