The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
