And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
