The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
