The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
