۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
