And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
