The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
