Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
