The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
