He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
