Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ta. Sin. Mim. 1 These are verses of the clear Book. 2 We recite to you some of the news of Musa (Moses) and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) in truth, for a people who believe (those who believe in this Quran, and in the Oneness of Allah). 3 Pharaoh behaved arrogantly in the land, and divided the people into groups, seeking to weaken one section, slaying their sons and sparing their daughters, he was one of those who spread corruption, 4 We wanted to bestow favour on those who were oppressed in the land. We wanted to make them leaders and heirs 5 And to grant them power in the land, and to make Firon and Haman and their hosts see from them what they feared. 6 And We inspired the mother of Moses, saying: Suckle him and, when thou fearest for him, then cast him into the river and fear not nor grieve. Lo! We shall bring him back unto thee and shall make him (one) of Our messengers. 7 And Firon's family took him up that he might be an enemy and a grief for them; surely Firon and Haman and their hosts were wrongdoers. 8 The wife of Pharaoh said: "(Here is) joy of the eye, for me and for thee: slay him not. It may be that he will be use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not (what they were doing)! 9 And the heart of Musa's mother was free (from anxiety) she would have almost disclosed it had We not strengthened her heart so that she might be of the believers. 10 and she said to his sister, 'Follow him,' and she perceived him from afar, even while they were not aware. 11 ۞ And We had before forbidden foster-mothers for him, so she said: Shall I show you a household who will rear him for you and take care of him? 12 So did We restore him to his mother, that she might be delighted, and that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the Promise of Allah is true. But most of them know not. 13
