We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 These men do say, 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
