Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
