Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning for people -- 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until death approached us". 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
