The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
