Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
