The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
