And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
